We are in the midst of homecoming after homecoming here at the Embassy - seems like everyone went to visit their family this season. So everyday there is someone to hug and welcome back. It’s rather nice.
Franklin is recovering very well from his surgery - the steri-strips are falling off and he’s walking around like a champ. He’s using his prohibition against lifting anything over 10 lbs to the fullest, and we’ve all been fetching and toting for him. Of course, he is perfectly able to heft his guitars, and can be found in our basement during all hours of the night and day playing and recording. He has recently written some songs, but is too shy to share them with anyone.
I have happily immersed myself in work, and in my newest hobby - KNITTING! Who would have thought that I would be able to produce articles of clothing with my hands? Certainly not me, but it is very relaxing and satisfying. In fact, many people in my life are picking up knitting, and several of us are going to the yarn store downtown tonight. I am currently knitting Franklin a wool scarf to match the hat I knit him last night. The hat is a little big, but it looks great on him.
Another fun thing that we are experimenting around with is COOKING. Our friends Robert and Elizabeth have been bragging around town that they are the only people that we’ve ever cooked for - it’s sad, but true. Our other friends, Chuck and Louann, bought us a food processor for Christmas (is this a hint?), and so now we’re going to have to get serious. So we’re cooking dinner tonight, you’re all invited.
We’ve taken in another homeless waif. OK, she’s not really homeless, and not really a waif either, but Laura needed a place to stay here in Jerusalem, and we took her in. Usually we take in guys, so having a girl about the house is a different experience for us. She keeps her room and bathroom clean and takes out the trash. Really, quite different from having guys. We’re clearly going to have to rething this whole “Linker Home for Unwed Boys” thing.
Anyway, that’s the news from the Linker household, where knitting, music, and craziness reign.
