everything around is medium

Jack Hayford and 2500 Foursquare leaders are having their annual meeting in town, and we performed The Covenant for them last night. It was a bit hectic - we didn’t have much time to prepare technically - but it turned out beautifully. I did the lighting thing, and Franklin did the bald-miniskirt-bodypaint-microphone thing. Despite being nearly sick with pre-performance nervousness (as I always am), I had a blast, and I think Franklin did too. Everyone looked amazing on stage, and Franklin’s a natural.

Our houseboy left, and we now have two house-girls. They seem to be mostly nocturnal, and we haven’t seen much of them, but they seem very sweet.

Franklin is making great progress towards his goal of building 2 guitars before the Feast - he’s almost completely done with the ’70s era tele, and has everything but the wood for the Les Paul. Between the Cov and the 1,001 engagement parties and weddings we’ve been involved in, we haven’t had much time for anything lately.

But we’re making time for this: we leave Sunday for a week in Spain. We’re going with our friends-who-are-close-enough-to-be-considered-family, the Salway Clan. The eldest Salway daughter and her husband have rented a villa near Malaga where we shall lounge about the pool all day and play cards all night. Or maybe we’ll do what we did in France last year and make up our own games to play (it’s amazing how much fun you can have with a balcony and a set of Pétanque balls).
