Franklin turned 36 on Sunday! I can’t believe I’m married to such an old man! We had a lovely day together, from breakfast in town to dinner with friends. As usual, all he wanted for his birthday was guitar building equipment. He is a man of steadfast focus!
I finished my NaNo novel before the deadline, can you believe it? Here are some completely useless details:
Final Wordcount: 50,050
Total Writing Hours: 53.5
Words Per Day: 1925
Hours Per Day: 2.06
Average Moral: 6.6 (on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being “I’m never going to write again” and 10 being “I want to write novels every day for the rest of my life”)
223349 characters (not counting spaces), 980 paragraphs, 3887 sentences.
Google Documents informs me that the novel scored a 6.0 on both the automated readability index and on the Flesch-Kincaide grade level scale.
The actual story is only about 47,500 words long, so to reach my final word count I was forced to write a long, rambling epilogue that will never see the light of day. I did most of the writing at the coffee shop at the mall (no wireless and nothing to do except write) or in bed (the most comfortable place in the world). It’s about as far from a well written piece of fiction as can be imagined, and I think I’ll spend the next month rewriting it before making it publicly available for interested parties.
In other news, things are gearing up here for the board meetings next week. Franklin is massively stressed out, and neither one of us remembers what life was like before all the stress arrived. By the end of next week it’ll be over for a while, at least until Franklin finds something else to worry about.
The Embassy is having a massive Christmukkah party on the 10th. We’re inviting all our friends and neighbors, and we’re expecting over 500 guests. Since a huge chunk of our staff is on holiday, those of us still in the country are going to have to do double duty. It’s going to be hectic, but fun.
That’s all for now, I’ll post pictures soon. I also want you all to know that I wrote this whole post using the dvorak keyboard (and yes, it took forever!).
